According to ESPN.com (namely Marc Stein & Chad Ford), the Cleveland Cavaliers offered their No. 1 & No. 19 pick to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge. The Blazers reportedly rejected this offer almost as quickly as it was made. If I was them, I would’ve just hung up the phone. It’s not like Aldridge is some old star on a rebuilding team….he’s not that much older than fellow star Damian Lillard. In fact, the two play well together. LaMarcus welcomed the youngster to this team and allowed him to take a leadership role from the start. There are absolutely NO ruffled feathers up in Portland… Meanwhile, this draft is more and more looking like a role player buffet. Maybe a couple of one-time All-Stars are in the mix, that’s about it. Who would the Blazers get at No. 1 to help them improve quickly around the stud Lillard? Len/Noel at center? I have two words for you: Greg Oden. Oladipo/Porter? They won’t play ahead of Batum at SF. SG McLemore? He may look nice next to Damian but Wesley Matthews is a stud and also very well-paid.
